چکیده

Only a limited amount of work has been done on issues of optimum experimental design in hierarchically structured data, in spite of the importance of design efficiency. We illustrate these issues by a fresh analysis of Holliday’s well-known engine mapping experiment. This experiment investigated the relation of automobile engine performance, as measured by engine torque vs. spark advance, to adjustable engine parameters or factors, viz. engine speed, load, and air/fuel ratio. We show how an optimum experiment can be designed. Our analysis suggests a general procedure of wide applicability.

Query Ambiguity Revisited: Clickthrough Measures for Distinguishing Informational and Ambiguous Queries

Understanding query ambiguity in web search remains an important open problem. In this paper we reexamine query ambiguity by analyzing the result clickthrough data. Previously proposed clickthrough-based metrics of query ambiguity tend to conflate informational and ambiguous queries. To distinguish between these query classes, we introduce novel metrics based on the entropy of the click distrib...

Comparison of Two Teaching Methods on Nursing Students’ Learning and Retention: Concept Mapping or Lecture?

Introduction: Nursing educators should use teaching methods that promote deep learning and retention. The aim of this study was to compare the effects of lecture and concept mapping approaches on the nursing students’ learning and knowledge retention in cardiovascular nursing course. Methods: In a quasi- experimental study on two groups with pre test -post test design, 66 fifth-semester nursin...

Fault-diagnosis-based technique for establishing RTL and gate-levelcorrespondences

In this paper, we address an important problem associated with hierarchical design flows (termed the mapping problem): identifying correspondences between a signal in a high-level specification and a net in its lower level implementation. Conventional techniques use shared names to associate a signal with a net whenever possible. However, given that a synthesis flow may not preserve names, such...

Sound Quantity and Quality of Sampo 3065 Combine Harvester

ABSTRACT- Noise is considered as one of the most debilitating conditions in farming operations. In this study, a number of factors affecting the noise generated by Sampo 3065 combine harvesters were evaluated. Factors were engine speed and gear ratio for combines with and without original cabins. A factorial experiment arranged as a completely randomized design with four replicates was used. Re...

On multi-level modeling of data from repeated measures designs: a tutorial

Data from repeated measures experiments are usually analyzed with conventional ANOVA. Three well-known problems with ANOVA are the sphericity assumption, the design effect (sampling hierarchy), and the requirement for complete designs and data sets. This tutorial explains and demonstrates multi-level modeling (MLM) as an alternative analysis tool for repeated measures data. MLM allows us to est...
